U Beaut Dewaxed White Shellac 500ml

QUANTITY:

Dewaxed White Shellac is used the same way as you would use any of the other varieties of shellac. The major difference between this shellac and the others is that it is a bit harder, shines a bit brighter, is completely free from wax and will not change the natural, wet colour of wood.

Because it has been bleached it has a particular characteristic that helps set it apart from most of the others. This polish will not darken the colour of the timber it is applied to any more than putting water on to the timber would. This makes it ideal for use on white-woods where discolouring of the timber is not wanted. It is also brilliant on most other timber colours as it will not hide or darken the grain in the slightest way, but instead will enhance the timbers natural beauty.

This is a 3lb cut, ie: 1.36 kg to 4 litres of 100% Ethanol (Denatured Absolute Alcohol (DAA)) aka 100% Industrial Methylated Spirits. Many other premixed shellacs are 2lb cut 1kg to 4lt and often use 95% ethanol.

STAINED TIMBER
This Shellac is also suited for application over brightly dyed or stained timbers and is fantastic for use in decorative finishes where a clear glaze is required. Mix with universal tinter or aniline dye to create brilliant coloured effects.

SANDING SEALER
Cut the shellac with 5 parts Ethanol (pure methylated spirits) to make a very good sanding sealed, this same cut can also be used as a base for wax finishing. (preferably using our
Traditional Wax).

APPLICATION
Dewaxed White Shellac can be applied with a pad (or rubber) the same was as you would French Polishing, it can also be applied with a brush and high or low pressure spray equipment.

as a Grain filler
Decant off about 20mm of Dewaxed White Shellac into a clean glass jar, add an equal amount of methylated spirits then add about half a teaspoon of our
Talc to the liquid and mix in well. This can be painted onto the surface of an open grained timber as a sanding-sealer/grain-filler. When it dries it is easily sanded leaving a silky smooth base upon which to continue your polishing. If the timber colour is muddied by the talc mix add extra French Polish and meths.
