Combination square sets are one of the handiest measuring tools as the basic two-piece square set (ruler and try square head) can be used as a small spirit level, plumb level, internal and external try and mitre square, simple marking gauge and height gauge.

The square head has a miniature scratch awl located in the base to mark work pieces with a face that can be used on 90° and 45° angles. The protractor head can move in a 180° range and also has a bright bubble level to check horizontal levels, while the centre marker head is handy for locating the centres of round work pieces.
